Users of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus can change screen resolution at three levels: HD +, Full HD + and WQHD +.
According to the Android Authority , if you intend to buy the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus, you can expect your smartphone to automatically display images and videos at WQHD resolution as Samsung introduces. This is true but not quite correct. The Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8 Plus launch event website says that the smartphone duo will have the default Full HD + resolution (2,220 x 1,080 pixels).
However, do not be disappointed when you can easily change the screen resolution of the Galaxy S8 / S8 Plus through a few simple steps in the settings. You can switch to WQHD + resolution (2,960 x 1,440 pixels) for the most complete picture and video experience. In addition, you can also lower the screen resolution to HD + (1,480 x 720) pixels to save battery power.
Keep in mind that the higher the screen resolution, the bigger the battery consumption. So, you should use this feature properly.
Interestingly, the 5.8-inch screen of the Galaxy S8 has a pixel density of 570 ppi per inch. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S8 Plus with a 6.2-inch screen has a pixel density per inch smaller than 529 ppi.
Samsung also said it has reached an agreement with Amazon Prime Video for Galaxy S8 / S8 Plus users to view HDR-enabled videos on the service.
